Welcome to Indian River Archer's web site

Greg Cadenhead has always shot a recurve since he was stationed over in Guam during the Vietnam war.  Greg Cadenhead and his wife Carol would have shoots at their home for close friends for years.  Then in 1985-1986 they started getting requests to invite more friends of friends.  The shoots were so much fun, yet the liability was getting scarey.  They had people showing up that they didn't know.  So Greg started talking with the county to acquire some land, organize the club, obtain insurance and enroll members.  It took almost a year of negotiations with the county before they felt comfortable with the idea of a public archery range and satisfied with our insurance coverage.  Once the land was secured, they set about cleaning it up.  It was a rough dumping grounds.

Indian River Archers became a wonderful family fun organization.  We had many children and some wives shooting.  We would host shoots and have members come from clubs all over the state.  Our lunches were known as some of the best in the clubs.  (I guess we just loved to eat as much as shoot!)

Greg Cadenhead served as president from 1987 to 1992.  Other founding members and officers were Carol Cadenhead, Tim Miller, Steve Kinnamon, Jackie Kinnamon, Tody Wilder, Sherman Wilder, Eddie Pfund, Jim Leiffort, and Robert Votzi.

Our membership grew to around 40, yet it was not unusual to have 80 to 90 come to a advertised shoot.  We gave club members discounts on the shoot fee.  We would schedule work days to clip back the palmettos or fix the shooting mounds, etc.

From starting out with traditional and recurved, to compound and crossbows. Indian River Archers club now sits on 20 acres of land in Indian River county Florida. We have targets from 20 yards to 100 yards and 3D targets on the range. There is plenty of parking just off of the range. We are open from dawn to dusk.
